Financial Wellness Bootcamp

A sequential approach to home buying education based on credit, and credit score, to elevate your ability to realize your homebuying goals. This approach includes financial health, wellness, and capability assessments.

  • 5 Virtual Online Sessions (each 2 hours Across ~2.5 Week Time Period
  • Interactive Assignments Provided by Facilitator

Home Ownership Counseling / Homebuyer Education (HBE)

Guiding individuals and families on their path to sustainable homeownership.

  • 8-Hour Virtual Class
  • Ideally Suited for Those Planning to Buy a Home within 6 to 12 Months
  • Includes Those Under Contract to Purchase a Home in Greensboro or High Point
  • Eligible for Local Downpayment Assistance Programs After Completing the HBE Course
  • Certificate of Completion Valid for One-Year for Any DPA Program

Foreclosure Prevention & Financial Sustainability Counseling

Our HUD-Certified counselors and advocates can assist you in evaluating foreclosure PREVENTION options. 

  • 1-on-1 Counseling and Support
  • Assists Clients That Can Demonstrate an Unplanned Financial Hardship
  • Clients Currently Severely Delinquent on Mortgage Payments Also Eligible
  • Assists Clients in Obtaining a Modification or Other Long-Term Solutions
  • May Refer Clients to Other Agencies with Appropriate Supportive Community Programs or Solutions.
  • Services Approved and Funded by HUD and the NC Housing Finance Agency

Individual Development Account (IDA) Program

A comprehensive 6-12 month financial education series which meets monthly on a virtual platform, and designed for potential homebuyers within 1 year of being mortgage ready.

  • Classes Taught by Licensed and Trusted Real Estate, Lending, and Banking Professionals
  • Monthly Group Education Sessions Are Required
  • 1-on-1 Success Coaching and Counseling Also Required
  • Participants Must Commit to a Monthly Savings and Budgeting Plan
  • Course Registration is Required

Post Purchase Program

A requirement for DPA (down-payment/homebuyer assistance) recipients to aid in the continued sustainability of homeownership and navigating real-life circumstances that may arise as a new homeowner. Completed around 3-6 months following the purchase of a new home. No fee for City of Greensboro’s DPA recipients, and HCG will follow up with clients to register.
