More About Homebuyer Education (HBE)
HBE is designed for potential homebuyers with a plan to own a home within the next 12 months or who are already under contract to purchase a home within the Greensboro and High Point areas. Our HBE program is HUD-certified. Class attendees may be eligible to apply for local Downpayment Assistance programs after completing this 8-hour virtual class and receive a program completion certificate valid for one year for participating in down payment assistance programs nationally.
Classes are offered two Saturdays each month on a virtual platform. Each class lasts 8 hours. Registration is required. Additionally, class attendance is required for the complete 8 hours.
The Homebuyer Education Program is:
- Ideally Suited for those Prequalified by a Lender to Buy a Home within 6 to 12 Months including those Under Contract to Purchase a Home in Greensboro or High Point
- Mandatory to Apply for Local Downpayment Assistance Programs After Completing the HBE program.
- Requires a Minimum FICO Credit Score of 600 to Register.
Attendees will:
- Better understand overall the homebuying process, basic mortgage loan approval requirements, and supportive resources available, including local Homebuyer downpayment assistance programs.
- Become familiar with the benefit of services offered by local real estate-related professionals.
- Receive a “Certificate of Completion” valid for one year for any downpayment assistance program available nationally, requiring HUD-certified Homebuyer education.
For a successful Homebuyer Education program experience while using the virtual platform, it is highly recommended participants have access to a personal laptop or desk top computer with a quality, reliable internet connection. Mobile access with a reliable internet connection is also available.
