Are you a lender interested in expanding your platform to help clients overcome one of the biggest hurdles to homeownership—down payments and closing costs?

Housing Consultants Group provides critical training and application support for housing professionals participating in the City of Greensboro & City of High Point Homebuyer Assistance (DPA) Programs. These programs offer down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible homebuyers. Please note: Maximum offerings and eligiblity vary by program & need.

What DPA programs are accessible to homebuyers through HCG?

HCG is a proud partner of the following:

City of Greensboro

  • Depending on qualifying conditions, homebuyers may receive up to $30,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance as a 0% interest rate, deferred, second mortgage with an affordability period based on the amount received. Please note: Maximum offerings, affordability periods, and eligiblity vary by program & need. It is crucial to review the guidelines for details. Applicants are not guaranteed the maximum amount, eligibility will factor max offerings per applicant.
  • HCG’s Lender Workshop certifies lenders & processors offering City of Greensboro’s Homebuyer Assistance (DPA) Programs to eligible homebuyer clients.
  • HCG manages the professional training, application processing and underwriting for the City of Greensboro.

City of High Point

  • Depending on qualifying conditions, homebuyers may receive up to $7,500 in down payment and closing cost assistance as a 0% interest rate, deferred, second mortgage with an affordability period of 5 years. Please note: Maximum offerings, affordability periods, and eligibility vary by program & need. It is crucial to review the guidelines for details. Applicants are not guaranteed the maximum amount, eligibility will factor max offerings per applicant.
  • HCG’s Lender Workshop certifies eligible lenders & processors offering City of of High Point’s Homebuyer Assistance (DPA) Programs to eligible homebuyer clients.
  • City of High Point’s application process, underwriting, and approval are all managed internally.

NCHFA CPLP

  • Housing Consultants Group is a member of the Community Partners Loan Pool (CPLP).
  • For benefit amounts, please visit the CPLP website here. Maximum offerings, affordability periods, and eligibility vary by program & need. It is crucial to review the guidelines for details.
  • Lenders & Realtors interested in becoming a CPLP partner must complete a certification hosted by NCHFA (see our “learn more about NCHFA” tab).
  • HCG’s Lender Workshop does NOT certify lenders to offer CPLP. Applications are NOT submitted through the Neighborly portal.

Lender & Processor Workshop Registration

OPEN PERIOD

1st – 15th of each month

  • If not completed within this time frame, you must re-register.

CLOSE PERIOD

16th – last day of the month

  • Course and Registrants are reset during this time for reports and updates. Do NOT attempt registration during this time.

DURATION

1-1/2 hours approximately

LOCATION

Online Learning Platform. The course is not timed. It is self-paced with user-friendly navigation, and 24/7 access.

  • While your progress can be saved and resumed, we recommend completing in one sitting for the best outcome.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Lenders & Processors participating with Homebuyer Assistance in cities of Greensboro & High Point.

  • Per Guidelines: “Lenders must have a physical, mortgage orginiation branch/office in NC for at least 1 year in order to participate. Lenders must prove NC employment.”

PREPARATION

Interactive components within lessons are most suitable for a laptop or desktop device. Headphones/Speakers needed to hear videos. Pen & Paper for notetaking. Downloadable resources embedded in the module.

HOW TO REGISTER

Information for registering and navigating the workshop will be released via email prior to our November 1st launch. If you are interested, click the link below and follow the instructions to RSVP. There is no fee. Registration is reset each month, requiring re-registration if needing access in a different month from when you registered. DO NOT REGISTER DURING THE CLOSE PERIOD as noted above.

For Realtors:

  • City of Greensboro & City of High Point do NOT require training for realtors recommending Homebuyer Assistance Programs
  • Realtors are encouraged to learn about local DPA programs to help reduce the burden of down payments and closing costs for homebuyers
