Celebrating Community Impact: HCG’s 2025 Friendsgiving Fundraiser Celebration at the Historic Magnolia House

On October 30, 2025, Housing Consultants Group (HCG) welcomed a full house of supporters, sponsors, and community partners to its annual Friendsgiving Fundraiser—a heartfelt celebration of collaboration, impact, and the road ahead. Held at the Historic Magnolia House in Greensboro, the evening honored those who have helped HCG guide thousands of families toward financial wellness and sustainable homeownership. The Friendsgiving Fundraiser underscored the power of collaboration and community engagement.
The Historic Magnolia House, a nationally recognized landmark listed in the Negro Motorist Green Book, provided a powerful backdrop. Once a safe haven for African American travelers during the Jim Crow era, it now serves as a bed-and-breakfast, museum, and cultural venue stewarded by Natalie Pass-Miller. The venue stands as a symbol of resilience and hospitality—values that align with HCG’s commitment to inclusive housing solutions.
Honoring Sponsors and Friends of HCG
This year’s event recognized the generous contributions of Champion Sponsor Pinnacle Financial Partners, Keyholder Sponsors, and the many Friends of HCG, including Affordable Housing Management, Inc., First National Bank, Community Housing Solutions, and Dream Builders Realty. Their support fuels HCG’s work in expanding access to housing education, down payment assistance, and financial empowerment.
Board member Michael Boyd, Mortgage Manager at Pinnacle Financial Partners, shared his reflections during the Champion Sponsor Welcome:
“HCG’s work is more than housing—it’s about dignity, opportunity, and legacy. Tonight, we celebrate not just what we’ve built, but what we’re building together.”
A Vision for the Future: The Road to 10,000

Executive Director and Founder Sofia S. Crisp delivered inspiring remarks, highlighting HCG’s evolution and its strategic response to community needs:

“We’re celebrating 21 years by building the road to 10,000 and beyond. With expanded partnerships and a bold vision, HCG is changing the perception of affordable housing–making it attainable for the working families who live and work in our community. We’re meeting people where they are and guiding them toward stability, dignity, and generational wealth.”
The evening also featured powerful insights from Trey Davis, Greensboro City Manager, who shared updates on the City of Greensboro’s Road to 10,000 initiative—a bold plan to build 10,000 new homes by 2030, including affordable units. Davis emphasized the city’s commitment to inclusive development, zoning reform, and public-private collaboration
Interactive Conversations and Community Engagement
Guests participated in “Two MisTruths & the ONE Truth” table conversations, exploring myths and realities around affordable housing, down payment assistance, and economic resilience. These discussions sparked lightbulb moments and reinforced the importance of inclusive, data-driven housing strategies. Through innovative programs and strategic partnerships, HCG continues to pave the way for equitable housing opportunities in Greensboro and beyond.
Gratitude and Momentum
As dessert was served and conversations continued, the message was clear: HCG’s impact is powered by people—donors, volunteers, partners, and advocates. Together, they are shaping a future where homeownership is accessible, equitable, and transformative.
